Neill Gaiman, Hall Passes and Revanche

Neil Gaiman was washed in my favorite color, black yesterday afternoon. This included each rather scruffy, bed-headed, black wave on his scrumptious head to the tip of square-tipped boots. His husky, a bit raspy and a lot sexy voice spoke into the microphone; addressing a packed-house and deliquescing crowd of men, women and children.

Neil Gaiman is touring the U.S. right now and fortunately his tour bus stopped at the Cleveland Public Library’s east side location auditorium. “…Virile, apple green is my favorite color, but it appears I like to dress in black…” his words burned into my memory as the pen in my hand swept across my writing pad. Thump-thump-thump was the sound of my accelerated heart beat. He was answering a random question from one of his many fans present in the audience.

It’s my opinion that Neil Gaiman is one of the important writers of this century – and I wanted to see him; learn more about his history of being a writer… and I must point out the obvious…he’s fucking hot!  Neil Gaiman is one of those persons that if you could, you would without a single doubt, fuck. And what’s really cool about fucking Neil Gaiman, is that your boyfriend, girlfriend, or spouse would understand your desire and essentially acquiesce to the fucking experience.

Upon further thought, your bfriend, gfriend or spouse might want to fuck Neil Gaiman too, because he’s that fuckable. Therefore,  fucking Neil Gaiman would somehow fall into the ‘gray area’ of what all relationships deem acceptable fucks outside of the relationship itself. My friend Natalie refers to the ‘gray area’ as having a hall pass. Hall passes are usually for those persons that are unattainable and usually deeply rooted in fantasy, like George Clooney, Christian Bale, and now, Neil Gaiman are for me.

I saw a picture of Neil’s (hall passes also warrant a first name basis) home library recently; which looks much like my local public library, so it came as no surprise learning yesterday that he’s an avid reader. He’s been reading since he was wee-lad in England. He’s a prolific writer; traversing the genre of fiction and non-fiction. He’s also a bestselling author; his novel, The Graveyard has been on the best selling list for over 52 weeks’. Bloody, outstanding, Neil! Neil Gaiman was incredibly charming, eloquent, intelligent, witty, and yes, uber-Brit-sexy *swoon-a-licious*. I have not read everything that he’s written, but he’s smoking hot right now and if he tours through your city; I encourage you to go check him out. Better make sure you get a hall pass first though – I’m just saying.

And as if seeing Neil Gaiman wasn’t enough to rock my Sunday afternoon, I decided to meet some friends at my favorite art house movie theater, The Cinematheque to see the film, Revanche. I wasn’t planning to see a film yesterday, although the film did get a Neve Black asterisk when I had originally read its description. Spontaneity rarely ever lets me down and neither did the film. I cannot recommend a more gorgeously filmed, emotionally gripping, plot-twisting, heart-felt, and deeply emotional film – it’s a Neve Black ***** star film. clip below:

How was your weekend?

  • Hi Neve! I don’t think I’ve read any of Neill Gaiman’s work but I’ll have to add him to my winter reading list.

Has fall arrived is such a startling fashion in Cleveland as it has here in Buffalo? It’s rained every day since we returned from California…a really strange juxtaposition when everything out there was clenched tight in the fist of drought.

We spent the weekend recooperating from our vacation - sleeping late, doing laundry and lounging around the house ;) No writing other than the Voyeur update, but I’ve some ideas bubbling, and I’m planning to tackle NaNoWriMo! :D Yes…I’m crazy.

Sounds like you had a great weekend though!

    *hugs*

  • Hey Scarlett!
Yes, it’s damn cold here now. I’m really trying to embrace it too. I’m. Really. Trying. To. Embrace. It. Too. It’s been said, you can take the girl’s toes out of the sand, but you can’t get the sand out her toes. I simply cannot put socks on, even though I reluctantly relinquenshed all my flip-flops until next year. Heavy sigh.

Good for you for tackling NANOWRIMO! Awesome! I think both Heidi and Shanna are also participating too. Good for you for recuperating too. That’s sometime so nice, you know? Oh, and while you’re adding Neil to your books to read list, you may as well add him to your hall pass list too. :-)
Looking forward to reading some of your stories later this month, little Scorpio girlll!

Off to embrace the season and go for a run. Burrr.

  • LOL! I actually love this time of year if I get to ease into it. The abrupt change was startling, not to mention the ceaseless rain. That I can do without. Thankfully the sun’s out today!

I think you just explained why I have a rowing machine, not running shoes ;) I can row regardless of weather(if I get my butt in gear, at any rate!).

I’m still trying to figure out the pieces for the reading…I can’t seem to choose!

  • Hey Scarlett,
Fall into winter is most definately beautiful on the color scale of things. The leaves are really starting to turn here and in a couple of weeks a road trip might be in order to really take advantage of the view. Sorry about the rain. We had that here too and it finally passed, but I’m told it’s making a comeback (it appears rain is popular).

Whatever you decide to send will be wonderful. Did I mention it’s going to be held on Halloween? Boo! I may elect to read something erotic and scary -

Oh yes, rowing is an excellent form of strength building. Good for you! Although the run along the river, while the leaves are changing is quite remarkable.

    i love neil´s “coraline”..the book..not the movie

and..gosh…i wish you guys would speak german because the accent of this movie is so funny!!! how does it sound to you? like any plain german or do you hear a difference? for example here in germany..i can hear if a person comes from america, uk, if he is an aussie or a southafrikan..but to germans..even the ones who speak english they dont hear a difference..for them its all english..

  • Danielle,
It sounds like you spend quite a lot of time with your God sons. How nice. I’m sure the time and effort each of you puts into the relationship benefits everyone too. :-) You always have such extraordinary events planned too. That’s wonderful.

That’s cool that you’ve read Neil Gaiman’s work - and it seems that in nearly every case, the book is always better than the movie -

Oh, I’m sure there are different accents within the country of Germany - we have different native born English accents that vary from state to state here, not to mention all the Europeans that immigrated here (like my great parents did from Ireland and France). I never studied German, although lately I’ve had a number of German speaking, or those that love Germany around me. Maybe a trip to your country is in my near future. Let me consult my crystal ball and get back to you. :-)
Thank you for stopping and thank you for your contribution.

    Auf Wiedersehen :-)
