My Prince

Someday my prince job will come…but until that happens, there’s always shopping… I’m kidding. I’m not much of a shopper. No, really, I’m not. But, I do have a few  weaknesses. I have a difficult time passing on a yummy pair of shoes.  *deep breath* And not just the sky-scraper high, elegant swoop or the ultra-feminity of a delicate ankle strap found when perusing the women’s shoe department for a fine pair of FM pumps. You see, I also have an absurd obsession for flip-flops too: I own no less than a dozen of the $.69 specials that offer little to no arch support and I’m told recently that bacteria love to hide on/in/around/below them. Make no mistake about it; I take very good care of my flops and FM shoes. I feel confident that they’re bacteria-ridden.

I do go a little over-board when shopping for specific items that are called for in a recipe, when I’m preparing a delightful dinner and tantalizing dessert for my friends, a lover, or both. But other than shoes and dinner ingredients, I’d rather save all my pennies, nickels and dimes for my next travel destination.

Suffice to say; when it comes to shopping, I’m the last person to own the latest and the greatest doo-hickey, electronic gadget. But today when I ordered these babies -

manmp3sunglasses

*the sunglasses, not the prince-looking guy wearing them*, I was quite tickled with my extravagant purchase. And NOT because they were absorbingly expensive either, but because well, it’s not something I would normally buy. Look, must I point out to all of you that these go on your eyes, and in your ears, not in your belly, or on your feet! I”ve moved into all new shopping territory here.

With my penchant to run outside nearly every day, I will be able to download Spanish and listen and speak in Espanol as I trek around Cleveland. I wish I’d thought of this idea three or four months ago, when the weather wasn’t moving out of the warm and into the cold, but I do have some time left in the season. The Spanish is my way of refreshing my “back in the day” college course studies, while simultaneously improving my marketability for finding that prince, damn, I mean job. No really, I swear.

p.s. I forgot to mention that I’ve been known to swoon over a great-looking hat. I must have close to as many hats as flops. I do shop for the vintage bargains though.

please please please say that you save your pennies for a travel destination in europe…:-)

  • Hahahaha. I’m going to try and en-large the..um, the…um, the picture. Yeah, the picture so other people won’t think I purchased a dentist’s torture tool.

Crack up, Danielle. And yes, I do have another trip to Europe in my future. Maybe Germany now, because I’ve met you. :-)

germany! you know that would be totally awsome! i live in a very interesting area, recently told shanna about it, i m living in the so called three country triangle..where germany, netherlands and belgium come together..so you can visit 3 countries with one travel..its fun!

  • Oh, Danielle, I would love to visit. That sounds like a wonderful spot to be living in too. Hmmm…I think it’s best that I find a job first before I start booking any flights though. But you know what? You just never know.

true! you never know whats going to happen!

  • Danielle,
I really want to live in Barcelona for 6 months to a year. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a loooong time. I’m working on finding, or creating a job that allows me the flexibility and the money to do so. This is why it’s taken me so long to find a job, b/c I’m so specific about the criteria. Make sense?

Either way, Europe has glorious trains; making it so easy to travel between countries. I’m sure I’d be making a stop or two in your neck of the woods. :-)

  • I keep chuckling over your comment about the evil, dentist’s torture tool. How funny!

Yes, I really feel like I’m sorting things out. Planning to take classes next month, so we’ll see. :-)
I appreciate your welcoming invitation into the woods. :-)

  • Hey Neve, I’m not much of a shopper either–although I do have a weakness for books, beautiful stationery, and of course horribly overpriced gourmet foods. But now and then a thing can be just the right inspiration, and I love the idea of nourishing your mind and fancy with Spanish practice. If you live in Barcelona, we might have to have a writer’s conference there. I’ve always wanted to visit that city, it’s definitely in the top five favorite future destinations. And dreams have a way of lifting us and carrying us along, so I’m sure yours will come true!

  • Oh, Donna, thank you for your support. You’re so sweet. I think I’ve shared with you my love affair with the Spanish culture- let’s see, yes, on more than one occassion. Ole’.

After much lamenting on where I’m going career wise, I do know that speaking a foreign language is as the top of my list. Along with Spanish, I’m planning to dive into a completely different field, that unfortunately isn’t related to erotic literature in any way, but I’ve resolved myself to the simple fact that I will still be writing screen plays and short/shorts on the side and maybe even in Spanish some day.

Yes, if I’m anywhere near Barcelona, everyone, everyone, everyone is invited to come and stay for as long as they want. It’s such a wonderful city. I haven’t found another place that I like nearly as much. It’s gloriously rich with culture, both new and old, with warm, sunny weather, delicious food and its located on the Mediterranean Sea (heavy breathing), as well as close to other nearby scrumptious places, like France and Italy. I’m gushing here, aren’t I?

Suffice to say, I’d love to live there for awhile, if not for a long time and the door to my casa would always be open, or la puerta de mi casa siempre está abierta!

    Adios mi amiga!
